Tips
Research consistently shows that vocabulary instruction is most effective when students encounter words in context, define them, and use them in original sentences. This journal does all three for every single word.
The "guess first, then check" approach builds inference skills. Being able to figure out a word from context is a critical reading strategy.
Three words per day is 21 per week, roughly 90 per month, and over 1,000 per year. That vocabulary growth compounds — each new word makes it easier to learn the next one.
Don't limit sources. Words from movies, podcasts, conversations, video games, and social media all count. Any exposure to a new word is valuable.
The "use it in conversation" challenge is what moves words from passive knowledge to active vocabulary. Hearing yourself SAY a word is different from just knowing it.
