Fluffy Slime Stretch and Squish Play
Make ultra-fluffy slime with shaving cream and glue — your child will stretch, fold, poke, and squish this cloud-like sensory material for ages.
What You'll Need
- 1White school glue (1 cup)
- 2Shaving cream (3 cups)
- 3Contact lens solution with boric acid
- 4Food coloring (optional)
- 5Large mixing bowl
- 6Cookie cutters (optional)
What You'll Need
White school glue (1 cup)
Shaving cream (3 cups)
Contact lens solution containing boric acid
Food coloring (optional)
A large mixing bowl
Cookie cutters (optional)
How to Play
Pour one cup of white glue into a large bowl.
Add three cups of shaving cream and fold gently until blended.
Stir in food coloring if you want a colorful batch.
Add contact lens solution one tablespoon at a time, stirring until the slime pulls cleanly away from the bowl.
Knead with your hands until it's smooth, stretchy, and no longer tacky.
Hand the slime to your child and show them how to stretch it s-l-o-w-l-y, fold it, and poke it.
Let them go wild — pulling, twisting, flattening, and pressing shapes into it.
Tips
The contact lens solution MUST contain boric acid — check the label. Without it, the slime won't form.
Add solution gradually. Too much makes the slime rubbery and stiff rather than fluffy.
This is NOT taste-safe. Save it for kids who have moved past putting things in their mouths.
Store in an airtight container for 2-3 days of repeated play. It won't last as long as regular slime because the shaving cream deflates.
The act of kneading slime is genuinely calming. Many occupational therapists use it as a self-regulation tool.
Age Adaptation Tips
Preschoolers can follow multi-step instructions. Ask open-ended questions and encourage them to predict what will happen next.
