Wet Felted Soap Sensory Craft

A bar of soap (any kind)

Wool roving in 2-3 colors (available at craft stores)

Warm water

A nylon stocking (optional)

A towel

Wrap thin layers of wool roving around the soap, alternating directions for even coverage.

Cover the entire bar with 2-3 layers of overlapping roving.

Optionally slide into a nylon stocking for extra hold during felting.

Dip in warm water and start rubbing gently between both hands.

Continue rubbing and adding warm water for about 10 minutes. The wool begins to shrink and tighten.

Gradually rub harder as the fibers bond. You'll feel the transition from loose to firm.

Let dry. The wool is now permanently felted onto the soap.

The transformation from loose, fluffy roving to firm, bonded felt is genuinely satisfying to feel happening under your hands.

The rubbing motion is meditative and calming — many people find felting deeply relaxing.
