DIY Flavored Lip Balm Craft
Melt beeswax, coconut oil, and flavor extracts to make custom lip balms — a tactile, olfactory craft your tween can use and gift proudly.
What You'll Need
- 1Beeswax pellets (2 tablespoons)
- 2Coconut oil (2 tablespoons)
- 3Honey (1/2 teaspoon)
- 4Flavoring extract (vanilla, peppermint, or strawberry)
- 5Lip-safe colorant (optional)
- 6Small lip balm tubes or tins
- 7Microwave-safe bowl
What You'll Need
Beeswax pellets (2 tablespoons)
Coconut oil (2 tablespoons)
Honey (1/2 teaspoon)
Flavoring extract: vanilla, peppermint, or strawberry
Lip-safe colorant (optional)
Small lip balm tubes or tins
A microwave-safe bowl
How to Play
Melt beeswax and coconut oil together in the microwave in 30-second bursts.
Once fully liquid, add honey and flavoring extract. Stir quickly — it cools fast.
Add a tiny dot of lip-safe colorant if you want tinted balm.
Pour into tubes or tins immediately. Work fast before it solidifies.
Let cool for at least an hour until solid.
Apply and test. Adjust the recipe for next time — more honey for softer, more wax for firmer.
Label each flavor and package for gifts or personal use.
Tips
The warmth of melted wax, the scent of the flavoring, and the silky texture of the finished balm make this a true multi-sensory craft.
Beeswax pellets are much easier to measure and melt than block beeswax.
Use only food-grade flavoring and lip-safe colorants since lip balm goes on the mouth.
One batch makes about four tubes — enough for your tween and their best friends.
Challenge them to create a whole "line" of flavors: a strawberry, a mint, a vanilla. Design labels. Build a brand.
