Crawl Under Limbo Challenge
Lower a broomstick each round and see how low your child can go — a fun flexibility and core strength game with music.
What You'll Need
- 1Broomstick or pool noodle
- 2Phone or speaker for music
What You'll Need
A broomstick, pool noodle, or jump rope held horizontally
A phone or speaker for limbo music
How to Play
Two people hold a broomstick or pool noodle horizontally at about chest height of the tallest player. A pool noodle is safer than a broomstick since it's soft if someone bumps it.
Put on some upbeat music. Classic limbo music is great, but any fun song works.
Players line up and take turns walking under the stick. The rule: lean backwards to pass under. No bending forward, no crawling, no touching the stick or the ground with your hands.
After everyone has passed (or tried), lower the stick by 2-3 inches.
Go again. And again. Each round gets harder as the stick drops lower.
If someone touches the stick, falls, or puts their hands down, they're out for that round but can rejoin next round. Keep it inclusive.
For kids under 4, relax the rules. Let them crawl under if they can't lean back yet. The point is getting under, and the leaning back will come.
The winner is the last person who can pass under the stick at its lowest height.
Tips
Leaning backwards under the limbo stick requires serious core strength, hip flexibility, and body awareness. It's a total-body challenge that feels like a party game.
A pool noodle is the safest option for the stick. It's lightweight, won't hurt if hit, and is easy for kids to hold.
For very young kids (3-4), start the stick at head height so everyone succeeds in the first few rounds. Early success keeps them playing.
Add silly rules: quack like a duck while going under, sing a line of the song, or make a funny face as you limbo.
If you only have one adult and one child, rest the broomstick on two chair backs instead of having someone hold it.
