What You'll Need
Liquid dish soap
Water
Food coloring in 3-4 colors
Large bowls (one per color)
A hand mixer or whisk
A baking tray or bin
Small cups and spoons
How to Play
Add two tablespoons of dish soap, two tablespoons of water, and food coloring to a bowl.
Whip with a hand mixer or whisk until you get stiff, fluffy foam — it looks like colored clouds.
Repeat with different colors in separate bowls.
Scoop the colored foam onto a tray or into a bin.
Show your child how to spread, scoop, stack, and swirl the foam.
Add cups and spoons for transferring foam between containers.
Encourage mixing colors to see what happens: "What do you think blue and yellow will make?"
Tips
The foam holds its shape surprisingly well — kids can build mounds and towers with it.
This is NOT taste-safe, so save it for children who are past the mouthing stage.
Do this in the bathtub for zero-stress cleanup — everything just rinses down the drain.
The texture is unlike anything in your child's usual sensory world: lighter than whipped cream, fluffier than shaving cream.
Add glitter to the foam for a sparkly variation that's extra special.
