Bubble Wrap Stomp Painting Art
Tape paint-covered bubble wrap onto paper, then let your toddler stomp across it in bare feet to create a giant dotted print.
What You'll Need
- 1Bubble wrap (large bubble preferred)
- 2Washable paint (2-3 colors)
- 3Butcher paper or large paper roll
- 4Tape
- 5Paintbrush or foam roller
What You'll Need
Bubble wrap with large bubbles (easier to see the dot pattern)
Washable paint in 2-3 colors
Butcher paper or a large paper roll
Tape
Paintbrush or foam roller for applying paint
How to Play
Lay a long piece of butcher paper on the floor and tape all edges down securely. You want it to stay in place during stomping.
Cut a piece of bubble wrap to roughly the same size as the paper.
Use a paintbrush or foam roller to spread washable paint across the bumpy side of the bubble wrap. Go bold with the color.
Carefully place the bubble wrap paint-side-down onto the paper.
Let your toddler walk, stomp, jump, and dance across the bubble wrap. Every step presses the paint through the bubbles onto the paper.
Lift the bubble wrap to reveal the dotted print pattern underneath. This reveal moment is always a thrill.
Apply more paint in a different color and stomp again for a layered, multi-colored print.
Tips
Bare feet work best — shoes muffle the pressure. Bare feet also add a sensory element as kids feel the bubbles under their toes.
Bigger bubble wrap makes bigger, clearer dots. Small-bubble wrap creates a more subtle texture.
The first layer is the most dramatic. Each additional color layer adds depth but becomes a bit muddier, so limit to 2-3 rounds.
This is a great activity for high-energy toddlers who need to move. The stomping burns energy while creating art.
Hang the finished print on a wall for a genuinely impressive piece of abstract art. These prints look amazing at toddler-gallery scale.
